Albert only played for three clubs. Starting his career with Rotherham and ending his career at Norwich he sandwiched a successful spell at United in between.
A player on the up and up, he was capped once for England in 1964 at U23 level.
His form and that promise unlocked his move to Newcastle United in 1965, for £27k, where he enjoyed a brilliant first season helping the team to promotion. He was something of a favourite of the fans and will was also to become infamous for being rugby tackled by Emlyn Hughes (one that earned Hughes the name 'Crazy Horse').
After 4 seasons at the Magpies he moved again, with United getting back most of the money they had paid for him.
Unfortunately his career was cut short by injury however, and he was forced to retire in 1971.
